Appointment of Thuthukile Zuma as Chief of Staff Sparks Controversy

Thuthukile Zuma worked for the State Security Agency as a public relations officer in 2013 and 2014. Her duties included supporting the Minister in his public role through research, speechwriting, and event management. Furthermore, she helped the Minister interact with the general population. Minister Siyabonga Cwele of the Department of Telecommunications hired Jacob Zuma’s daughter to serve as his Chief of Staff in May 2014.
