Tracking Thabo Bester is four-part investigation into Thabo Bester; why he was called the Facebook rapist and in jail originally. It also explores how a celebrity doctor fell for a convicted criminal and left her children behind to go on the run with him to Tanzania; and who really died in Cell 35.

According to the video-on-demand platform, Tracking Thabo Bester surpassed the previous record-holder, Rosemary’s Hitlist.

The true-crime documentary was also the most-watched title across all genres over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Magudumana’s lawyer Mochini Motloung has confirmed that her client will shoot her own documentary to counter the narrative in the public space. Especially following the release of Tracking Thabo Bester.

Meanwhile, the Department of Correctional Services has confirmed that it is investigating circumstances that led to Nandipha Magudumana being assaulted in prison.

Magudumana was allegedly assaulted by an inmate on Saturday, 16 March at the Bizzah Makhate Correctional Centre in Free State.

On Monday, 18 March, Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said Magudumana laid a complaint of assault by another inmate.

Nxumalo said the department is investigating the circumstances following what was said to be a prayer meeting in a different cell from Magudumana’s.

“Reports of an alleged altercation and a push against the grills can be confirmed. DCS officials advised Magudumana to open a criminal case when she reported that she was allegedly assaulted. Magudumana opted to discuss it with her lawyers first.

Furthermore, Nxumalo said DCS Healthcare officials conducted an examination on her and found no visible injuries.
