Miss Universe SA: Bryoni receives beautiful send-off at farewell

Miss Universe South Africa, Bryoni Govender is ready to jet off to El Salvador where she will be competing at the global Miss Universe pageant. This comes after she said her final farewells at her official send-off over the weekend.


 

The 26-year-old from Gauteng was crowned as the 1st-runner-up at this year’s Miss South Africa pageant where she earned the right to represent the nation at the upcoming Miss Universe. She also becomes the first Indian-South African woman to compete at Miss Universe in 25 years.

BRYONI GOVENDER READY FOR 72ND MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT
All roads lead to Central America where the 72nd Miss Universe will be taking place. South Africans have generally performed well at the global competition in recent years and Govender will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Demi-Leigh Tebow and Zozibini Tunzi who have both worn the crown in the last decade.

At a chic event held at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club’s Old Oak venue in Gauteng, the law graduate not only unveiled her farewell and national costumes but spoke about how important the occasion is for her.

Speaking to local paper, Rising Sun, she expressed her feelings ahead of the big moment when she said, “I have found myself outside my comfort zone multiple times and I absolutely love it because I have grown immensely. I am committed to continuing the hard work whilst enjoying the entire journey and remaining authentic to who I am.”

SOUTH AFRICA READY TO CROWN ANOTHER WINNER
South Africans are in a particularly patriotic mood at the moment, following the Springboks’ recent win at the Rugby World Cup on 28 October 2023. As the nation prepares to welcome its winning athletes, fans are also excitedly wishing our Miss Universe South Africa all the luck she needs.

Govender explained to Rising Sun how important the support has been to her when she said, “The support I have received from my fellow South Africans has been unwavering and I want to thank them for cheering me on every step of the way. I believe in excellence and that is what I am going to do at Miss Universe. I will strive to give the best performance I can, whilst having fun and enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime experience. So get ready to see me wave South Africa’s flag high for the universe to see,”

Miss Universe will take place on the 18th of November 2023 and will be available for streaming online. South African broadcast details have yet to be confirmed.
