With a career spanning years, Springboks and Racing 92 prop Trevor Nyakane has been dubbed one of the most celebrated players since his debut.


 

The Racing 92 prop was part of the Springboks history-making squad at the tenth edition of the Rugby World Cup. The Springboks went down in the game’s history books after they edged New Zealand 12-11 in the final.

The win saw the Springboks becoming the first team to win four World Cups in eight appearances. The Boks squad also became the second to win the World Cup back-to-back after the All Blacks. On the other hand, Siya Kolisi became the second captain to lift the cup twice after All Blacks legend Richie McCaw.

However, Trevor Nyakane is trending against the backdrop of his birthday. Taking to Instagram the Springboks star Bongi Mbonambi, “Happy birthday my brother @trevornyakane …Moto Moto.”

Against the post, Trevor Nyakane replied, “@mr_mbonambi lol you just had to didn’t you, thank you very much, my brother, much appreciated, can’t wait until you celebrate something I have a good picture waiting for you.”

The 35-year-old prop was born on 4 May 1989 in Bushbuckridge, South Africa. Trevor Nyakane would be 38 years old in 2027, leaving many convinced he might have had his last World Cup in 2023.

CAREER
He started his youth career with Limpopo Blue Bulls in 2005 and left for Free State Cheetahs in 2007. In 2011, he joined CUT Ixias before making his senior debut with Free State Cheetahs.

Since then, Trevor Nyakane has starred for several clubs, including the Bulls. In 2022, he joined the Top 14 outfit Racing 92 in Paris, France. No doubt, he has also had a colourful international career.

Trevor Nyakane started playing for the national team in 2013. Over the years, he has been dubbed one of the most successful Springboks players. He has three World Cup medals—two gold medals from 2019 and 2023.

Nyakane was also part of the 2015 Springboks squad winning the bronze medal at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
