South African actress Khanyi Mbau has a daughter with her ex-boyfriend Mandla Mthembu. Here’s what we know about her “baby daddy”.
KHANYI MBAU’S ‘BABY DADDY’
Actress Khanyi Mbau previously called herself a “sugar baby” on the first season of Young, Famous & African. This may have been a reference to her “baby daddy”, Mandla Mthembu, who is reportedly 30 years older than her.
Mandla and Khanyi have a 17-year-old daughter named Khanukani together. The actress set tongues wagging when she revealed her daughter lives alone on an episode of the hit Netflix reality series.
Khanyi and Mandla were married from 2006 to 2009. She previously revealed that they never really had a heart-to-heart conversation.
“All I remember was us deciding on colour, where to eat, cars, arguing not being in the same car because we did not like the same music. There was no heart-to-heart conversation, apart from discussing having a baby,” said Khanyi in an interview with Anele Mdoda.
“Mandla was 30 years older than me, what did he possibly think he would get out of me? I enjoyed being around him, but I realised I was worshipping him, not loving him,” she added.
So, what do we know about Mandla?
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MANDLA MTHEMBU?
Mandla was known to be a businessman.
According to Briefly, Mandla became rich when Sechaba Printing successfully sued Transnet parastatal after selling its printing business, Transnet Production House, to Skotaville Press. This was a firm he claimed had ANC links back in 1998.
So, is he still rich? Well, he reportedly lost his money after having financial issues which resulted in his assets being sold or repossessed.
He reportedly married Khanyi when she was just 21 years old.
Before Khanyi, Mandla was married to Dolly Matshabe.
