Somizi says he’ll stand with Kelly Khumalo no matter what

While introducing the Bazokhuluma singer on stage, he said: “Please make some noise and welcome my sister that I love with all my heart. I love this woman. This woman stood for me when I couldn’t stand, stood with me when I couldn’t stand, and I will stand with her no matter what.”

Somizi has also reassured his fans that Kelly would still be performing at his show titled Shades of Pink at Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni on 19 August. This comes as the Empini hitmaker continuously faces backlash amid the rebooted Senzo Meyiwa murder trial which will enter its sixth week on Monday, 21 August, at the North Gauteng High Court.

Kelly was the Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper’s girlfriend when he was killed in her presence at her mother’s house in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014.

As such, she has been haunted by cancel culture, especially as more and more witnesses take to the stand to testify.

Last month, and again this month, she was removed from the line-up of two events; A Tribute to Women and The Maseru Jazz Festival; due to complaints from patrons. The mother-of-three has also been clapping back at netizens who have been calling for her to be cancelled from the entire entertainment industry.
