Zandile Khumalo-Gumede accused of putting on an act during

Zandile Khumalo-Gumede testified in the high court in Pretoria on Thursday as a witness in the trial of the men charged with the murder of footballer Senzo Meyiwa. Khumalo-Gumede, who was among the seven people in the Vooslorus home of her mother Ntombi Khumalo, during an alleged robbery gone wrong, as described as the eye witnesses who were present during the incident.

Meyiwa was fatally wounded in 26 October 2014. Khumalo-Gumede became emotional when she spoke of how her family’s life and the Meyiwa’s family life had changed since the incident. However, her emotional outburst had tweeps suggesting she was putting on an act.

Testifying as a witness, Khumalo-Gumede emotional when she spoke how their lives had changed due to this tragic incident which claimed Meyiwa’s life, she confronted the five men accused of killing Meyiwa, and she said this to them:

“Are you guys even aware of what you did to our lives? Are you guys even aware of what you did to us as a family on that day? The damage you guys caused?”. Khumalo-Gumede asked the accused.

Social media users reacted to her bursting into tears, and tweeps said Khumalo-Gumede deserved to be on a TV show because they were not moved by her emotional moment.

This could be the reason why Khumalo-Gumede didn’t want her testimony to be broadcast, she feared that this would happen. This is the prejudice she was talking, things could have been much worse if her testimony was broadcast visually, she could’ve been made a meme, and the whole country would’ve been making fun of her, it’s a good thing her testimony is only broadcast live in audio.
