Azwindini reflects on his Muvhango role and talks about the future

When news filtered through that Chief Azwindini has left Muvhango, any of his fans could not believe it.

That is because he had been with the drama since its inception and after 23 years, he has bowed out.

Temudzani, who played the iconic role of Chief Azwindini Mukwevho left the show with the actor’s last appearance being on Monday night.

He bowed out in the most painful of ways where viewers watched Azwindini’s cousin Tenda fatally shoot him.

Tenda and Azwindini had been at each others throats and the former emerged victorious.

He ended Azwindini’s 23 year reign on the drama series. But what does the future hold for the veteran actor.

“Muvhango will always be part of who I am. It has contributed to the person that I am now. The show gave me a chance to put Venda culture and language on the map. Venda people today are proud of themselves because people know about them. We need to be grateful as Venda people of a platform like Muvhango,” he said.

The veteran actor joined Muvhango as a fresh faced 20-year-old and he has never looked back.

He has won several awards along the way. His hopes for the future are to continue acting.

He, however, could not be drawn to comment about his acting plans for the near future.

“SA is alive with possibilities. There are a number of things that I have lined up, but it will be premature for me to talk about them. For now, I want to focus on travelling and advancing my travel agency. I want to focus on my kids and continue to watch Muvhango – who knows, I might go back as a director or producer.”

It appears as though he will take a long break from the limelight before we are able to see him on screen again.
