Fans of the legendary Sesotho commentator were shocked to see the aging star in his current condition. Social media platforms buzzed with discussions and expressions of surprise at the sight of Mthethwa in a wheelchair. Many followers were unaware of his health struggles and the amputation he had undergone.

Mthethwa had previously opened up about his battle with gangrene during an interview with sportscaster Robert Marawa in November of the previous year. He shared that his sickness had brought him to the brink of death, leaving him bedridden for six grueling months. However, with the unwavering support of his wife and family, he managed to overcome the ordeal.

The amputation of his leg was a necessary step in his recovery process. Mthethwa explained that gangrene had spread up his leg, leaving no choice but to undergo the procedure in order to prolong his life. Despite the difficulties he faced, Mthethwa remained optimistic and believed in his ability to make a full recovery.

The sportscaster admitted that he had kept news of his illness and amputation private, only sharing the details with his family. He wanted to shield the public from his struggles, confident that he would bounce back stronger. Mthethwa acknowledged the immense support he received from his wife, who played a significant role in his speedy recovery.

Baba Mthethwa and Monica have known each other for over two decades, having initially met through business. Their friendship has endured throughout the years, leading to their decision to join their lives together in matrimony. Mthethwa had previously been married to businesswoman Kgomotso Olivia Koosimile, but they divorced in 2019.

Last year, Mthethwa had been absent from television screens and radio due to his health condition. However, his recent social media activity indicates that he is in high spirits and ready to make a comeback. He expressed his excitement about commentating on the upcoming Nedbank Cup semi-finals this weekend, signaling his return to the sports broadcasting scene.

As the news of Baba Mthethwa’s wedding spreads, fans and well-wishers are delighted to see him finding happiness despite the challenges he has faced. His journey of recovery and resilience serves as an inspiration to many, reminding us all of the importance of love, support, and a positive mindset in overcoming life’s obstacles.
