Queen Camilla and King Charles have faced criticism on social media for wearing crowns adorned with Cullinan diamonds at their coronation ceremony. The diamonds were discovered in South Africa over 100 years ago, and many South Africans feel that they were stolen and should be repatriated.

 

 

 

 

Queen Camilla’s crown was reportedly first owned by Queen Mary, and had been resized for the coronation ceremony. The crown was fitted with Cullinan gems, along with other royal jewels. The Kohinoor diamond, discovered in India, was also part of Queen Mary’s crown, and is part of the Royal Family’s Crown Jewels.
