Mourners were seen making their way to the Durban International Convention Centre to attend the funeral service of musician Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo, who is set to be buried on Friday.

Various individuals will deliver their speech at the funeral, and these include Kwa-Zulu Natal Premier, Nomusa Dube Ncube as well as ANC Kwa-Zulu Natal provincial chairperson, Siboniso Duma. These will give speech in first session of the funeral program.

 

 

 

 

 

The casket carrying Mampintsha’s body was accompanied by his family and wife Bongekile Simelane popularly known as Babes Wodumo as it arrived at the Durban ICC ahead of the funeral service.

On the second session of the program, artists being led by DJ Tira will also deliver their speeches, as they bid farewell to one of their own. Mamphintsha and his two friends formed a music group, Big Nuz which went on to become a force to reckon with.

It is sad that out of the three members, only one member of the group is left. On Thursday, DJ Tira said they are going to make sure that Babes Wodumo, the widow of Mamphintsha will get all the help she needs so that she can get back to her feet.

Mamphintsha was born on the 27th of June in 1978 in Kwa-Zulu Natal province. He is survived by his wife and her son. His music career kicked off in church where he used to be a member of the church choir.

Babes Wodumo was wearing a white dress as she bids farewell to her husband. Critics are however questioning why she chose to wear white instead of the black outfits that most mourners always wear at funerals.

She was seen carrying her son, and walking behind the casket carrying her husband. Also the relatives of Mamphintsha were following behind them. It is a sombre atmosphere as mourners one after another narrate how sad they are to witness this funeral.
