We cannot talk about the South African music industry without mentioning SA Hip Hop. At some point back in 2014 to 2018 South African Hip Hop was at its peak, we had so many hip hop hits that came out of that time, not only hit songs but we also had so many new Hip Hop stars such as Emtee and Nasty c.
Well, recently Amapiano seems to have driven out South African Hip Hop as it isn’t as popular as it used to be back from 2014 to 2018.
It seems Big Zulu noticed that SA Hip Hop has died out a little bit and he recently became the talk of the town because of the diss track that he recently released. In the song, it seems he was going after South African rappers such as Emtee, Nasty c, and a lot of others.
The reason behind the diss track was to revive South African hip hop, but the question that remains is, did Big Zulu succeed in reviving SA Hip Hop?
Well, it seems that he might have just succeeded in doing that because all the rappers that he talked about in his track seem to be responding to the diss track, and this has had so many people interested in Hip Hop for the past few weeks, and that is very good for the South African Hip Hop genre.
Kwesta, K.O, Duncan, and Cassper Nyovest were all mentioned in Big Zulu’s diss track and they all responded with their own diss tracks, and all of them wanted a piece of Big Zulu.
So, to answer the question of, did Big Zulu succeed in reviving South African Hip Hop? Well, the short answer is yes, but for how long is SA Hip Hop going to stay alive?
So let’s keep in mind, that the attention that hip hop is getting now could also disappear just like it once did.
