Phumlani threatens to kill Sibongile

Friday’s episode of Gomora was a return to old ways. Gladys has taken Melusi back, again. Gladys really knows the meaning of “till death us part”. This woman has forgiven Melusi so many times.

Why Gladys? Why? Why can’t you find a man who will not constantly treat you like second choice? You are beautiful, career oriented and strong. How do you as a social worker convince your patients to leave abusive relationships when you can’t leave your own?

Once Phumlani is removed Thati will be single again and he will go back to her. He was already planning to be Thati’s “support” before Jackie told him to stop, reminding him that Thati has a husband who should be her support. To say Gladys disappoints me is an understatement.

In more interesting news Phumlani’s hit on Stompie failed and now he has to look for other ways to silence him. He has chosen Sibongile, knowing how much Stompie cares for her. Phumlani threatened to harm her should Stompie continue to involve himself in his business. Stompie had warned Phumlani to come clean to Mam Sonto or he was going to do it for him, but it appears he might have gotten the message.

On a side note, I’m very surprised by the amount of people who are okay with Stompie’s relationship with Sibongile. I’m not sure how old Stompie is supposed to be on the show but he looks at least 30. Sibongile on the other hand is a 16 year old high school girl. Why are people not making noise about this? Where are the gender based activists?

Nina Simone once said that an artist’s duty is to reflect the times so I guess I understand why they have this relationship on the show. I still expected more uproar from viewers though.

Zodwa having been reassured still does not trust Bongani. That’s understandable because Zoliswa is a teacher while she is uneducated. I just hope she won’t lose her mind or Bongani because of her insecurities.

Let’s meet after Monday’s episode.
