Mpambani sought an apology and retraction of the Skeem Saam actress and former Metro FM host’s accusations that Maarohanye assaulted them over a decade ago. Du-Pont made the charges on social media in reaction to Maarohanye’s harsh statements about her on Macgyver “MacG” Mukwevho’s podcast earlier this month.
However, the two women’s attorneys informed City Press this week that they had urged Khumalo and Du-Pont to disregard Mpambani’s demands included in Wednesday’s letters delivered through WhatsApp and email. Their lawyer, Mabu Marweshe of Marweshe Attorneys, said that they were finalizing criminal and civil proceedings against Maarohanye after consultation with famous Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi.
“We confirm receipt of the letters and will react promptly. However, we are unable to comment on the other two situations at the moment. We will release a statement when our clients have submitted their sworn testimonies to the police and we have served our court documents.” Marweshe said that by failing to react to Mpambani’s letters of demand, his clients invited her to pursue the matter further.See the source image

Du-Pont also referenced in her video answer to a case in which Mpambani reportedly diverted money given to her charity by American media mogul Oprah Winfrey into her own account and accused her of using muti. Khumalo then came out in support of Du-Pont, stating that Maarohanye raped her more than a decade earlier at Mpambani’s Naturena, Johannesburg, house. Mpambani ordered the two ladies 48 hours this week to recant their charges and apologize to her.

“Our instructions are to record, as we hereby do, that by posting the aforementioned video, you are purposefully misleading members of the public by stating and/or implying that our client is a criminal, that our client was involved in unsavoury and fraudulent dealings with Oprah [Winfrey], that our client has some control over her son, and that our client practices with muti,” the letter to Du-Pont reads.
“Our client emphatically rejects any involvement with your contact with her son and denies that she deals with or has ever dealt with muti.” Mpambani also denied any involvement in money laundering or fraudulent acts, claiming that Du-comments Pont’s had harmed her “reputation.”See the source image
“Our orders are therefore to demand, as we do herein, that you immediately and within 48 hours of receipt of this letter… delete the video post from your Instagram page and any other platforms on which you may have put the aforementioned video,” the lawyer said.
“Confirm in exchange that you will refrain from creating and/or posting any more defamatory posts against our customer.” Additionally, the petition asked that Du-Pont publish an apologetic letter to Mpambani. Khumalo was ordered to erase her social media postings, withdraw the claims, and apologize to Mpambani in the letter. However, the two ladies remain steadfast in their convictions.
