After controversial blogger Musa Khawula revealed that Metro FM had suspended DJ Lamiez Holworthy for attending the African National Congress rallies before the recent elections, social media was abuzz.
SABC CLEARS THE AIR ON DJ LAMIEZ HOLWORTHY’S ALLEGED SUSPENSION
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Musa Khawula posted, “Metro FM suspends Luthando Shozi, better known as LootLove, and Lamiez Holworthy for attending the ANC rallies.”
Against Musa Khawula’s post, Metro FM was thrust into top trends, with many trying to connect the dots about the alleged suspension. However, against the daring rumours, SABC rubbished the news.
Speaking to the media, SABC’s Acting Group Executive, Corporate Affairs and Marketing Mmoni Seapolelo, revealed that the DJ was not suspended or unscheduled for any matter.
Mmoni Seapolelo said, “With regards to DJ Lamiez Holworthy, she is not on suspension or unscheduled for any matter.” However, the SABC official also confirmed that LootLove was suspended and unscheduled.
REASONS BEHIND LOOTLOVE’S SUSPENSION REVEALED
She has it that the station was not at liberty to share the details of her suspension. “The SABC can confirm that Metro FM on-air presenter Luthando ‘LootLove’ Shosha was unscheduled from her programme but will be back on air today,” Seapolelo said.
She added, “The SABC is not at liberty to go into the details of the matter concerning the individual, except to say that hosting political rallies or public association with political parties goes against the SABC’s editorial policy, which is a public document.”
However, the station has since revealed that she will return on air. LootLove was one of the celebrities who attended the ANC’s final rally, Siyanqoba, at the Soccer City in Johannesburg. The Metro FM host seemingly endorsed the party in a now-deleted post.
The now-deleted post shared on X by the ANC reads, “Award-winning TV and Radio broadcaster LootLove endorses the ANC and encourages people to #VoteANC2024.”
However, against the viral clip, fans and celebrities took a swipe at LootLove. Taking to X Mmusi Maimane, posted, “LootLove endorsed a party that loves to loot.”
MUCH-AWAITED RETURN
With an illustrious career spanning years, LootLove has fast become the host we all love to hate. She has managed to wow listeners with her unmatched flair. Earlier this year, she hogged headlines when she made her much-awaited return to the radio station.
LootLove left Metro FM in 2021, where she co-hosted Absolute Hip Hop with DJ Speedsta from 2017 until her departure. However, LootLove now co-hosts the afternoon drive show The Touch Down with award-winning radio host Tbo Touch.
