Recently, the 38-year-old songwriter was honored at the African Grammy winners gala dinner held at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel in Johannesburg. She received recognition alongside her collaborators, Zakes Bantwini and Wouter Kellerman, for their work on the hit song “Bayethe.” The gala dinner served as a celebration of their outstanding achievements in music.Prior to the gala, Zikode was welcomed home with a ceremony hosted by the Durban Creative Industry and the eThekwini Municipality at the King Shaka International Airport. The event was a testament to her growing success and the impact she has made in the music industry.

Zikode’s Grammy award holds historical significance, not only because it is her first Grammy win but also because she is the second South African female artist to receive this prestigious international recognition. She follows in the footsteps of the legendary Miriam Makeba, who won a Grammy in 1966.
