Reality star Ayanda Ncwane will not be part of the long-awaited Real Housewives of Durban season two.
A Sunday World article alleges that Ncwane has called it quits with the franchise.
Sources say Ncwane believes the show is damaging her brand and her late husband’s (Sifiso Ncwane) legacy.
The publication states that the mother of Ngcweti Ncwane and Mawenza Ncwane is working on her own reality show.
Another source stated:
Ayanda felt like the show had portrayed her in a negative way.
Page seven of the Sunday World article also stated that the production company is still in two minds about getting a replacement.
Ayanda was a huge hit on the show as fans admired her personality and felt like she carried the show.
The media personality declined to comment about her departure when she was contacted.
ANOTHER HOUSEWIFE EXITS THE SHOW
Ncwane isn’t the only housewife who won’t be part of season two though.
Kgomotso Ndungane who is the wife of former Sharks and Springboks player, Odwa Ndungane also bid farewell to the Real Housewives of Durban earlier this year.
Ndungane told True Love Magazine:
The season has come to an end and everyone is leaving to continue with their other commitments.
It was great to be part of the show, meeting all the ladies and the production team as a whole. It’s been a great experience.
The plan for me was always to do one season and move on to something else.
THE SUCCESS OF THE SHOW
The Real Housewives of Durban has been topping Twitter’s trend list weekly and has been a hit since it premiered in January 2021.
The show is directed by Valen’tino Mathibela who’s directed reality shows such as Lebo M – Coming Home and the Real Housewives of Johannesburg.
Channel 24 stated that the show broke all previous first-day viewing records and claimed the streaming service’s top spot.
Candice Fangueiro who is the head of content at Showmax’s stated:
We know our reality fans come for the drama and if you’re looking for fireworks, the first episode of RHOD has it all, so we’re not surprised to see it break records.
The Durban-based franchise was the second installment of the Real Housewives franchise after the success of the Real Housewives of Johannesburg in 2018.
THE WEALTHIEST HOUSEWIFE
The series followed six successful women namely: Annie Ludick, Ayanda Mcwane, Kgomotso Ndungane, Monkanyiso Conco, Nonku Williams, and Sorisha Naidoo.
Sorisha Naidoo is the wealthiest housewife on the franchise according to projecttopics.org and various sources.
The former Scandal! actress’s net worth is estimated to be around $13 million.
It is unclear at this stage when season two of the Real Housewives of Durban will premiere.
