Siya Kolisi, the captain of Springboks got caught in the crossfire in the Showmax Roast of Minnie Dlamini, which premiered on Friday, 26 April.
The rugby player was among several names who caught strays by the celebrity panel, which included the likes of Lasizwe Dambuza, Celeste Ntuli, Robert Marawa, and Trevor Gumbi. Joining them as hosts – or roastmasters – were comedians Tumi Morake and Jason Goliath.
In a clip posted on social media, sports presenter Robert Marawa is seen grilling Minnie Dlamini over her relationship with Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.
Robert said of Khune: “He was Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana’s number one goalkeeper. He was considered one of the best. And then he met Minnie Dlamini, aka the Zulu Jada Pinkett.
“He was successful, and she Minnie-Dlaminied his career. She single-handedly ruined Bafana Bafana.”
Robert then mentioned another sporting hero – Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.
“You had a thing with Siya Kolisi, right?” Robert asked Minnie, who appeared shocked and confused. “Proving” his point, Robert added: “Exactly. The Boks won back-to-back Rugby World Cups.”
The mention of Siya Kolisi and Minnie Dlamini being romantically involved would surely come as a surprise to the public, as the couple and their spouses are known to be friends.
In one Instagram post, Siya revealed that he and his wife Rachel had gone on a family vacation with Minnie and now ex-husband Quinton Jones.
“Weekend away neJones’s,” he captioned the post.
It wasn’t just Siya Kolisi whose name was mentioned in the Showmax Roast.
Minnie Dlamini’s ex-husband was mercilessly mocked for being “broke” and a “gold digger.”
Much of the banter was likely referring to a Sunday World report that Minnie pays Quinton R10 000 in monthly spousal support cheques.
However, Minnie ended her public address by boldly stating: “I’m not paying no f**king maintenance.”
Somizi and Mohale’s failed marriage – as well as Lasizwe’s friendship with the latter in the aftermath – was also a big talking point.
