Penny Ntuli finds a new home

Popular South African radio personality, Penny Ntuli’s light is shining again. The former Gagasi FM presenter, who exposed the Durban-based radio station for wanting to pay her R2 8000 a month, is now working for a Johannesburg-based radio station.

On Monday, 1 April, the social media sensation shared that she received a job offer from the owner of one of the radio stations in Gauteng.

“Family, an opportunity has presented itself in Johannesburg. I’m going to try again in the broadcasting industry. My new boss has booked a flight. He said ‘come over Miss Ntuli, I’ll sort everything out once you’re here’,” she wrote on Instagram.

The radio station in question is Jozi FM where Ntuli will be hosting the Mid Morning Chat every Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 12:00.

This was confirmed by Ntuli on Instagram, as well as her new colleague, Themba Tshabalala.

“Masses were hit by a big surprise when @PennyNtuli went live @jozifm. Kwamnandi ke lokhu [This is so nice],” Tshabalala wrote on X.

In addition, Disoufeng Pub and Restaurant shared a picture of Ntuli and Jozi FM CEO, Mpho Mhlongo.

Ntuli’s new job comes after she trended last week for dumping Gagasi FM.

In a lengthy Facebook and Instagram post, the 26-year-old – who has 1.6 million followers on TikTok – said that she was not happy with how much the station was going to pay her.

Penny shared a copy of her resignation letter to the station, as well as her new contract offer. The new contract offer revealed that Gagasi FM had given her the graveyard show on Sundays between 1:00 and 4:00. On offer was an amount of R711, 98 per show.

The media personality said that she had “gladly accepted the new show” until she was told she would be getting paid R2 800 per month. According to the radio host, her new salary would have not been too far from what she was getting paid for the past two years.
