New video evidence of AKA, Anele submitted for inquest hearing

AKA’s legal team has submitted a video allegedly showing the rapper’s fiancée, Anele Tembe, threatening to commit suicide at his home in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

Sunday World reports that the video clip is among the crucial evidence to be investigated during the inquest hearing into Anele’s death. The matter is scheduled for a formal inquest at the Cape Town magistrate’s court starting on 15 April 2024.

ANELE TEMBE’S PASSING
Anele – popularly known as “Nelli” – fell to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel on Loop Street in Cape Town on 11 April 2021.

At the time, the 22-year-old was at the hotel with AKA – real name Kiernan Forbes – who was assassinated over a year later in Durban on 10 February 2023. By his own admission, they had had a fight before her tragic death.

After extensive investigations, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) ruled Anele’s death a suicide. However, her family refuted these findings.

NEW VIDEO SHOWS ANELE TEMBE ‘THREATENING TO COMMIT SUICIDE’ AT AKA’S HOUSE
According to Sunday World, the new video allegedly shows Anele (the daughter of well-known businessman, Moses Tembe) standing on the balcony of AKA’s Bryanston home, threatening to jump. In the clip, Anele reportedly throws her engagement, two Rolex watches and a portrait into the swimming pool.

“While standing on the balcony, she threatened to jump and kill herself. AKA jumped into the pool and retrieved the watches and the ring,” a source told the publication.

Afterwards, the rapper allegedly walked into the house and found an emotional Anele sitting on the bed, crying and saying she wanted end her life.

“The decision to submit this video to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) was to possibly prove that Nelly was suicidal and that AKA did not kill her as they so believed, but whether that is enough to convince the court remains to be seen because we were not there in the room and don’t know what actually happened,” said the source.
