Major League DJz have issued an apology to attendees of their Balcony Mix Africa event.
The event, which took place at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg on Saturday and had the hottest amapiano sensations on the lineup, saw some artists perform longer than others, leaving many people disappointed.
After attendees expressed their grievances, the amapiano stars took to their timeline to shed light on some issues raised.
“Apologies for everything people experienced. What a stressful event for us too. Just getting a venue like Zoo Lake and all the rules and laws it comes with was particularly impossible to pull off. Our sound was monitored throughout the event by JOC. Each hour it was measured. The Rosebank community didn’t want us there. That’s why there are no events at Zoo Lake,” read the statement.
“We fought to the very end where even the police themselves pulled the plug on the sound and continued to pull our liquor licence if we sell any alcohol after 8pm. A lot happened yesterday. Regarding set times, artists were late for the times. That’s something we can’t control. Lastly we as young people need to fight with the government to allow us to do events in and around Johannesburg. It’s not fair that we can only do events where we close at 2am and play the sound at a decent volume in the township. Not fair at all. The event is growing and they don’t want the numbers we attract. So it’s something we need to work on. Or maybe just get a farm somewhere to party.”
