Black Coffee recently bore all on My Top 10 at 10 with Tbose. This was Coffee’s first media interview since his life-altering accident in January.
Following his accident, the Grammy-award-winning DJ had a lot of time to reflect, and one of his decisions was to give his life to God. He shares that this was after an eye-opening conversation with musician-turned-pastor Kabelo Mabalane.
“There is a version of myself that I always wanted to be, but it wasn’t arriving. I always knew the type of guy I wanted to be when I was growing up, and I saw that guy coming together. I wanted to be the kind of guy who knows God and has Jesus in his heart,” shared Black Coffee.
He noted that, as “cool” as his life was, he wasn’t representative of the man he always wanted to be. “I wasn’t that guy. I’m at the most amazing place ever. People get to this place when they are down and out. Kabelo said to me, ‘God never wastes a battle, and this is one. You are not in a place of weakness, but in a place of power. People ask for this moment in rehab, the hospital, or jail. It is a step I wanted to take publicly for myself. It is one of the most exciting things for me because I like starting something and excelling at it.”
Black Coffee also shared the details of his accident and why he believes his marriage to Enhle Mbali failed.
