For some time, the Wololo hitmaker looked to be losing weight, especially after the passing of her husband and Big Nuz member, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo. But now, Babes is getting back to her old self.
The singer (who has a son with Mampintsha) shared a picture of herself inside a plane, looking visibly chubby.
“Shes [sic] looking good. And there is even no need to question the type of weight she gained, you can just see from her neck and the whiteness of her eyes that nothing is wrong with her,” said one X user.
In July 2023, seven months after her husband’s passing, Isolezwe reported that the musician was critically ill.
According to the publication, Babes was in and out of hospital due to an undisclosed illness, which was later believed to be a lung-related disease.
Despite tthe reports, her sister and manager, Nondimuso Simelane, insisted that the singer was in good health.
One month later, Zimoja reported that she was recovering at her parents’ house.
BOOKED AND BUSY
This year, Babes is booked and busy. Despite allegations that she missed a gig in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and ran off with R11 000, the artist was spotted honouring an Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) booking this month.
The Shut Up and Groove hitmaker was one of the acts at the EFF’s manifesto launch on 10 February at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KZN.
A week later, Babes was at another political party’s manifesto launch activation. The musician was booked by the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the same city.
