Popular South African actress Amanda Manku who plays the role of Dr Elizabeth Thobakgale-Seakamela on Skeem Saam revealed in a statement on Friday, 12 January that her parents were murdered.
The seasoned Skeem Saam actress addressed speculations that her mother and grandmother were murdered in 2021, in a statement on her social media accounts.
On January 10, 2024, three suspects appeared in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate court in connection with the murder of two women, aged, 70 and 45. The mother and daughter were shot and killed by unknown on 4 May 2021 at Makgophong Village, Zebediela,” said the actress in a statement.
Limpopo Chronicle reports the three suspects who were arrested in connection with the murder of the mother and grandmother of Amanda Manku, known as Lizzy on Skeem Saam are David Khoza, 40, William Manku, 53, and Nonhlanhla Ngubo, 42, who were remanded in police custody. Their cases were postponed to next week Thursday, 18 January 2024 for bail application and further police investigations
The publication adds that the 70-year-old mother and her 45-year-old daughter were shot dead by unknown suspects while fetching water at a local tap. The elderly woman was also in the company of her son who was injured during the shooting incident.
The sportscaster and actress had a heart-breaking 2021 when she lost both her mother and grandmother at the same time in May.
Manku announced on her social media accounts that she had lost her parents and described 2021 as the most difficult year of her life.
“This is by far the worst and most difficult year of my life. As it comes to an end, strength to all those who lost loved ones this year.”
“One thing my mother always told me, is to stop posting about my problems but right now, it’s hard. I want to vent! I want to understand!”
“How can I lose my mother and grandmother at the same time? Who will I go to for comfort? For advice? Morena nkarabe (God answer me).”
