Social media users are issuing warnings to Grammy award-winning singer Tyla after she was seen with record producer DJ Maphorisa.
MAPHORISA AND TYLA WORKING ON MUSIC?
Although their video clip dates back to Maphorisa and Kabza De Small’s London show in 2022, it has sparked speculations that the Mnike hitmaker and the 22-year-old are working on music together. And Tyla’s fans are not happy about the idea.
Maphorisa and Tyla already have songs together titled To Last Remix and Thata Ahh.
Maphorisa – whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe – is currently feuding with DJ and podcaster MacG over exploitation claims.
This comes after the producer, who’s also a record label boss, took to Instagram last week to tell artists that all the music they record in his studio belongs to him.
“When you record music on my computer, my studio, with my electricity. That sh*t is mine. It belongs to me. You must understand when you work in someone’s studio, that sh*t is not yours.
“Go buy your studio, buy plug-ins, FruityLoops [a digital audio software now known as FL Studio], a microphone and whatever, then make music and release it. Then those will be your masters,” he said.
Maphorisa’s utterances have since sparked a debate about his business dealings, further fueling rumours that he exploits artists.
In light of Maphorisa’s revelation, and his video with Tyla, fans have been throwing shade at the DJ.
“Don’t eat the Nandos Tyla!! Use your own laptop, electricity and microphone,” a fan warned.
“Then she gets nothing 😂after him buying McDonald and cold drink in the studio,” said one X user.
While another said: “I hope she has her own studio.”
