Josina Machel says she doesn’t understand why her stepsister, Makaziwe Mandela, wants to auction off their late father Nelson Mandela’s personal items.

Josina – who is the daughter of the first democratically-elected South African president’s wife, Graca Machel – shared her views regarding the controversial upcoming sale on her X account at the weekend. Graca shares Josina with the late Mozambican president, Samora Machel.

While many South Africans are disheartened to see the personal belongings of the late Nelson Mandela go on auction, a few have made light of the situation surrounding the former president. One TV personality, Anele Mdoda, has even jokingly asked to purchase a special item.

This week, a list of the items set for sale was made public. They included an identity document and clothing belonging to the freedom fighter.

The auction – set to take place in New York next month – has been approved by Nelson’s oldest daughter, Makaziwe.

Popular South African influencer Nadia Jaftha showed off a new Porsche Macan on her social media platforms. The Cape Town-based content creator donned a black dress in the video and drove off the showroom floor in the medium-sized SUV.

The Macan is the German carmaker’s entry-level SUV and Nadia Jaftha’s particular model is powered by a six-cylinder engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox called PDK.
