‘They scammed me’: Limpopo man accuses ‘Skeem Saam’ actor Sebasa

The fraud allegations that were levelled against Skeem Saam actor Sebasa Mogale two years ago are still following him.

According to ZiMoja, Sello Bonoko (who is a former truck driver) says the actor still owes him over R200 000 which he invested into his bitcoin company.

‘SKEEM SAAM’S’ SEBASA MOGALE ACCUSED OF FRAUD
In May 2022, a fraud case was opened against Mogale after Bonoko pressed charges. He said the former Thobela FM host had been advertising his bitcoin company on his radio show in 2020.

Bonoko alleged that the media personality worked alongside Mpho Dagada, the president of a political party called Arise SA.

“I want my money back. I paid R235 000 to Sebasa’s bitcoin company and he promised me R50 000 a month return. This was in September 2020, but never received any money. I didn’t know he was running a scam. He assured me his business was legit,” Bonoko said at the time.

Bonoko recently told ZiMoja that the justice system failed him. He revealed that the matter was thrown out of court last year and Mogale still owes him.

“I have tried in vain to get my money back from those guys, but nothing is happening.

“The sad part is that my wife took my kids and left me. I’m now a divorcee because Sebasa promised me heaven and earth. He promised that I would make enough money to support my family. Did I make more money? I never did. I have found myself jobless, wifeless and penniless. All I want is my back and for those responsible to go to jail because they scammed me,” he said.

FOUR OTHER ALLEGED VICTIMS
Bonoko is not the only alleged victim. A month after he pressed charges, four other people came forward.

At the time, Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafelo revealed that police were investigating a total of five cases. He said the amount owed was over R800 000.

When the allegations were made public in 2022, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) confirmed that Mogale was pulled off his Thobela FM afternoon drive show, Ntshirogelo, in May.

This prompted the actor and broadcaster to release a statement addressing the claims.

“I am a drive time radio show host, actor, MC and businessman who recently became a Network Marketer (with regards to the cryptocurrency business) having been introduced by others.

“I never imposed or coerced anyone to sign-up. In fact, I would encourage everyone to do their own research, especially because I know that not everyone is familiar with the cryptocurrency industry,” he explained.

Mogale further explained that everyone who invested has access to their accounts.
