Professional sports fanatic Mama Joy — real name Joy Chauke — is living her dream life. Her role as professional fanatic to SA’s sports teams is both taking her places, and getting her paid. This continues to spark controversy for locals who have questioned the fact that their taxes are going towards her lavish stays around the world.
She recently attracted fresh criticism after revealing that she was leaving Ivory Cost where she had been supporting Bafana Bafana who are currently participating in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament.
While she explained that she came back to support the SA20 Cricket League, many believe that she didn’t plan on Bafana Bafana doing this well.
For many, sports fanatic Mama Joy is a beloved part of the country’s sports celebrations.
Over the last few weeks, she graced the Afcon stands in support of the country’s national soccer team, Bafana Bafana.
While the team was off to a rough start after losing to Mali in their first match, they are back in the game and seemingly in high spirits.
This is why, when Mama Joy shared that she was headed back to SA from Ivory Coast where Afcon is taking place, many were puzzled.
She has since shared that she came back to support Cricket SA20 which is currently underway.
“Guys it was only me coming back home cos [because] of cricket commitment. Not because of no budget #I will be there watching @BafanaBafana vs Morocco live as you need me there. It’s a do or die. Cricket SA 20 Leque [league] needs me 2…” she wrote.
