Irish musician Sinéad O’Connor’s cause of death was revealed on Tuesday by a London-based coroner’s office.
SINÉAD DIES OF NATURAL CAUSES
Sinéad was found unresponsive at her south London home in July 2023. The musician was 56-years-old.
A spokesperson announced that she died of “natural causes”.
“This is to confirm that Ms. O’Connor died of natural causes”, a spokesman for Southwark Coroner’s Court in London announced Tuesday.
The Southwark Coroner’s Court’s spokesperson continued: “The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death.”
After news of her death broke O’Connor’s family released a statement expressing their sadness for their loss.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad,” they shared.
Sinéad’s family statement continued: “Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
‘HE WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE’
According to Page Six, the Nothing Compares 2 U singer died in July 2023, just days after cancelling all her music gigs to take care of “her own health”. This came following the death of her 17-year-old son, Shane, who passed away by suicide.
“He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him,” This Is the Day singer tweeted.
Sinéad O’Connor was not only a singer but was widely known for being an activist. She was also best known for her single Nothing Compares 2 U, which was released in 1990. The song reached number one and brought her worldwide fame.
The artist, who was very passionate about her social and political views, released 10 studio albums between 1987 and 2014.
