‘Don’t post about Christmas’: Mo Salah ‘warned’ by followers

For the past few years, Liverpool star Mohammed ‘Mo’ Salah has angered the Muslim community with a post wishing his followers a “Merry Christmas”.

In the Instagram posts, Mo is joined by his wife Magi Sadeq, and their two daughters, Kayan and Makka. The family of four don matching Christmas pjs as they sit in front of a Christmas tree.

Mo – who practises Islam – has come under fire for the post, which many claimed was “haram” (forbidden) in the religion.

MO SALAH LABELLED ‘HARAM’ OVER FESTIVE FAMILY PICS
Although he has yet to post to make his annual holiday post, Mo Salah has come under fire for sharing his best Christmas wishes with fans.

The Egyptian-born soccer star, who plays for Liverpool, previously is known for his Christmas family portraits featuring his family of four.

But many of his followers are not fans of the festive post. In fact, many have dragged the soccer star for his “haram” display.

It’s also not the first time Mo Salah has irked the Muslim community. In 2021, he spoke to Egyptian talk show host Amr Adib in an interview that had fans riling.

When asked if he was ever tempted to drink alcohol (also haram), he claimed he “never felt the urge” to do so. The response was widely criticised as fans claimed Mo Salah failed to mention that Islam forbids alcohol in his answer.

Under his latest Instagram post, followers of Mo Salah have begged him to not share another Christmas post.
