The former Orlando Pirates star made a brief appearance at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 11 December, after he was arrested last month allegedly smashing three cellphones and a laptop belonging to his ex-girlfriend.
He was released on R3 000 bail.
Sunday World reports that court adjourned a few minutes after proceedings began as the state informed the court that its investigation is continuing.
MALICIOUS DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
In a statement, the South African Police Service (SAPS) explained that on 11 November, Gabuza visited his ex-girlfriend at her home in Sandton where the incident allegedly took place.
“The complainant said Gabuza allegedly asked her for sex but then she refused. It is then that the soccer star became aggressive and roughly pushed her against the wall towards her bedroom.
“The complainant allegedly managed to free herself and ran back to the lounge. Gabuza is accused of following her, snatching her cellphones and smashing them against the wall.”
The items are said to be worth R50 000.
Gabuza’s legal representative, Themba Ngobeni, said the football player will not miss a single court date.
“He won’t miss a court date, he will be available and will cooperate during proceedings,” Ngobeni said
