Motivational speaker, Lebogang Motsumi who is living with HIV opened up about how late musician Zombo infected her with HIV when she was a teenager.

LEBOGANG MOTSUMI: ‘I WANTED FAME, HE WANTED TO INFECT ME’
The 33-year-old motivational speaker took to her social media on Tuesday, 5 December to share how she met late kwaito musician, Tebogo Ndlovu known as Zombo, who passed away from HIV/AIDS.

“How I got infected with HIV. I was 17, my friend and I went to a club to watch a performance by Chomee. During the performance, I spotted Tebogo Ndlovu (Zombo), and he was winking at me,” she tweeted.

Motsumi adds that she wanted to fall pregnant with Zombo’s baby at the time because she wanted fame and had no idea that he purposely wanted to infect her.

“He then reached out and asked me to watch a music show on SABC1. I think it’s called “Liveamp” now. He appeared on the show sitting on a wheelchair. He then disclosed his HIV status and mentioned he went around spreading the virus cause he didn’t want to die alone,” she says.

ZOMBO PASSED AWAY
Sowetan reported in February 2008 that the Kwaito star Tebogo Ndlovu aka Zombo succumbed to an Aids-related illness at St Francis Care Centre in Benoni, Ekurhuleni after revealing he was infected.

The publication adds that Zombo confessed to Sunday World that he had been sexually promiscuous and that he had no recollection of who may have infected him.

He also confessed his status on SABC1’s Live and lambasted his 999 manager, Arthur Mafokate for neglecting him when his health started deteriorating.

Sunday World also revealed the late musician discovered he was suffering from the disease after undergoing tests at Sunninghill Hospital in 2007.
