Thanks to Springboks captain Siya Kolisi and South African sprinter Akani Simbine

Ofentse Mofokeng, a talented 17-year-old rugby player from Allen Glen High School in Roodepoort, has been given the opportunity of a lifetime – and thanks to double Rugby World Cup-winning captain, Siya Kolisi, his dream will come true.


 

\A video of the Grade 9 pupil asking for financial assistance was shared by his Creative Arts teacher, Ntombentle Va, on her social media platforms last month.

In the clip, young Mofokeng shares that his rugby playing skills have earned him the opportunity to travel to Ireland, where he will gain much-needed exposure in the highly-ranked sport. The total cost for his trip is R56 000.

The aspirant Springbok’s plea for donations did not fall on deaf ears. In another clip shared by his teacher, Mofokeng shares the amazing news that Kolisi – who plays for Racing 92 in France – reached out to him.
