Meet Yolisa Zoey Cele, a rising star in Mzansi’s entertainment industry, recognized for her role as 14-year-old Mpumi in the series “Isithembiso.” At 24 years old, she’s the daughter of esteemed actress Baby Cele, known for portraying Gabisile in the popular show, Uzalo. She was born on 4 November 1999.Some people say Yolisa looks like Gugu Gumede who potrays MaMlambo on Uzalo especially their lips. I can also see some similarities though on their faces. Yolisa took a hiatus from acting to focus on studies, but fate led her back to the screen with “Isithembiso.” Her nervousness during auditions turned into elation upon securing the role. Despite doubting herself, she embraced the opportunity and excelled.Reflecting on her role, Yolisa shared, “Shooting scenes without dialogue was a challenge. To evoke emotions, I delved into personal struggles, recalling moments like parting ways with friends or facing academic setbacks.”

Acknowledging her mother’s influence, Yolisa praised Baby Cele’s guidance, emphasizing her support in refining acting skills and aiding with language nuances, especially in isiZulu.

Unexpectedly, acting became Yolisa’s path, although her passion initially lay in fashion design. She revealed, “I dreamt of stunning dresses, waking up to sketch them.”

While pursuing her acting career, Yolisa remains steadfast in aspiring to fulfill her dream of becoming a fashion designer. Undecided about where to study, she’s resolute about eventually actualizing her vision.
