The family of the Limpopo-born comedienne Lebogang ‘Lettie’ Mpyana confirmed that the Diep City actress passed away.
The family spokesperson T Mpyana released a statement on Thursday morning, 2 November on the actress’s Facebook account which read:
“It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our daughter Lebogang Mpyana. Lebo died after a short illness. We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers in this time of bereavement. Memorial service and funeral service details will follow”.
The Mpyana’s also pleaded with the public on Wednesday evening to refrain from posting and tagging her social media accounts.
Mpyana was popularly known for the role of gossipmonger Khelina in Mzansi Magic’s canned telenovela Diep City.The actress Lebogang ‘Lettie’ Mpyana’s former Diep City co-star Chrispen Nyathi, who played the role of pastor Charleston on the Mzansi Magic’s telenovela took to his Instagram account on Thursday morning to pay tribute to her.
Comedienne, chef and actress Lebogang Tlokana also paid tribute to Mpyana on her Instagram account: “Rest in Peace, Queen Sekwatakwata.”
