Bontle Modiselle raises awareness about period poverty with Always #Bloodsisters

Bontle Moloi (née Modiselle) says she’s passionate about helping the less fortunate and making people aware that one in three girls misses school as a result of their period.

The media personality and choreographer, who attended the recent Global Citizen Festival in New York with fellow activists Nomzamo Mbatha, Chris Rock, Katie Holmes and Nkosana Butholenkosi Masuku, told TshisaLIVE she was honoured to be a part of the cause.

At the event, South Africa’s “Always Keeping Girls in School” ambassador shone the light on the Always #Bloodsisters movement, a collaboration with Procter & Gamble (P&G).

Nthati Moshesh has won best supporting actress in a tv drama

Following virtual award presentations due to the Covid 19-pandemic, this year’s black-and-gold-themed Saftas was the first one back with an in-person awards show after three years.The in-person Saftas were a reset in more ways than one, with the awards show relocating back to Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg, where the Saftas had taken place several years before it jumped to Sun City and the Sandton Convention Centre.

The champagne-filled Saftas and its sprawling red carpet was once again a two-night event with technical awards handed out on Friday night in Gallagher’s Hall 3. It was followed by the main awards show on Saturday night and televised on SABC3 and Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) as a simulcast production with former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi and Lawrence Maleka as the co-The third season of How to Ruin Christmas, also on Netflix and produced by Burnt Onion Productions, won in five categories as the South African comedy series, which took home the biggest haul.

Thando Thabethe has won best actress in a tv comedy at the SAFTAs for her role on How To Ruin Christmas

Themed Our stories flow together, the 17th annual South African Film and Television Awards ( Saftas17 ) recuperated this year.

For the first time in three years of virtual ceremonies due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the prestigious awards were held in person this year.

The star-studded event was held on Saturday evening, 30 September, at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand. It honoured and celebrated the best of the South African film and television industry.

How to Ruin Christmas led the TV Comedy category with five wins while eTV bagged 12 awards to come out on top among the TV channels.
