Friends actor Matthew Perry (Chandler) has died

The actor Matthew Perry, who was best known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, has died at age 54, after an apparent drowning on Saturday at his Los Angeles-area home.


 

 

Perry was found dead in a jacuzzi at his home, with no drugs found at the scene, according to TMZ.

The publication was also told there was no foul play involved and first-responders were called to Perry’s address for an apparent case of cardiac arrest.

“We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family,” a statement by Warner Bros. read.

“The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”

Perry was born in Massachusetts, US and became involved with TV acting in the 1980s.

His eventual role on Friends made him one of the most iconic sitcom characters of all time.
