Mpumelelo Mseleku is gearing up to release his first single as he makes a comeback on the music scene.
After graduating from Boston Media House in 2019, the Izingane Zes’thembu star ventured into football, playing for Moroka Swallows FC in their junior ranks for nearly two years. Now he is back to his first love and ready to dominate the house music scene.
“I am back to music because it is what I love and what I studied for. It’s very important to prepare yourself when getting into this space by making music. DJing is more like a talent, if you are a DJ it doesn’t leave you, it’s always there,” he told TshisaLIVE.
The 22-year-old’s upcoming song Idlozi featuring Mrango is in line with his spiritual journey as he is “accepting his calling”, he says,
“The name of the song has meaning. It explains how your ancestors will fight for you regardless of what happens.”
Mpumelelo, who is the son of popular polygamist Musa Mseleku, has given his followers a front-row seat to his life.
He has two girlfriends Vuyokazi Nxiweni, who is expecting their second child, and Tirelo, who recently welcomed their first baby — a boy — together.
“I got an opportunity to showcase what I do, which I do not force. It’s something I grew up doing. I was trying to make man-made twins. They are just months apart, I was trying to make them twins from different people. I am making the family grow.
“How to structure isthembu, and make people understand that isthembu is not something you have to start only once you’re older. It’s important for you to start now and grow within, understanding the dynamic of it.”
Speaking on how fatherhood changed his life, Mpumelelo said he changed his ways and focused on setting things right for his family.
“Becoming a dad changes you, you have to change everything. From the way you carry yourself and the stuff that you usually do. You understand that you are a family man now and that your children are now looking up to you.”
