Seven months since his death, slain rapper AKA’s legacy keeps shining as he continues to be acknowledged for his contribution to the music industry.

Aside from his album Mass Country raking in 35,404 units, equivalent to 40,972,588 streams, the rapper is also scooping awards.

 

 

Here’s a look at the awards that have recognised the rapper’s strides:

AFRIMMA

At the 10th edition of the African Muzik Magazine Awards (Afrimma), AKA posthumously won an award for Best Male Southern Africa and his girlfriend Nadia Nakai, who hosted the event, won Best Female Southern Africa.

This is AKA’s second Afrimma trophy after taking home an award at the 2015 ceremony for Best African Collaboration.

CONTENT CREATOR AWARDS 2023

Recently at the second instalment of the Content Creator Awards, AKA won Song of The Year for his hit Lemons (Lemonade) featuring Nasty C.

His mother Lynn Forbes took to the stage to accept it on his behalf.

Reflecting on his impact she gave a heartfelt speech in his honour.

“As a mother, I believe Kiernan was not of this world. He was bigger than this world. He lived large, loved large and expressed himself large. I knew my son in life but in death he is teaching me deeper, more meaningful things about his life and who he really was as a person. Kiernan is written into history. My son is a legend and he will live forever. His legacy will never end,” she said.
