Clothing Brand Apologizes For Selling AKA Shirts Without Family’s Consent

Clothing brand, Amakipkip, received backlash from social media after they designed and sell AKA merchandise without obtaining consent from the late rapper’s family. Fans of the musician scolded the brand for going ahead with the design and marketing of their tribute T-shirt and accused the brand of trying to make money off AKA’s name. In their response, the brand said that they were only trying to honor AKA and were seeking justice. The brand later released a statement on its social media accounts and apologized to AKA’s fans, friends, and family for going ahead without getting consent. The Forbes family had already worked with a clothing brand called Cultish to design a limited-edition tribute garment. While many understood what the brand was trying to do by designing the t-shirt, many did not care and said that the Forbes family should not accept the apology.
