Nandipha Magudumana – Thabo Bester’s co-accused – has given insight into her family life with her estranged husband and two children following her bail application on Tuesday, 20 August, at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court.
The celebrity doctor revealed appealed to the court to release her on parole as she had “parental responsibilities.” However, the state – who are opposing her application – painted an entirely different picture of her being a married woman with a lover and a mother who “abandoned” her children.

According to her statement, should Nandipha be granted bail, she will lodge with a close friend in Sandton, of whom she has provided the court with a fixed address.
The mother-of-two also claimed that she was not a flight risk and had her travel documents confiscated.She also claimed that she needed to resume her “parental responsibilities” to her 11-year-old and 6-year-old daughters.
The statement continued: “I am currently married and separated from my husband. I have full parental responsibilities and rights of my two minor children in terms of section 18 of the Children’s Act”.

Meanwhile, an investigating officer admonished Nandipha for abandoning her two daughters.
According to the IO, Nandipha has not seen her children since she dropped them off at school on 15 March and did not return. They are currently in the custody of her estranged husband, Mkhuseli Magudumana. He also claimed that Nandipha spoke to her husband just once since her arrest.
He said: “It has also been established from the telephone register that there was only one telephone call to the husband; instead, the many phone calls were to friends and her legal team”.
