Bheki Cele Has Refused To Protect Xolani Khumalo From Threatening Him

South African Police Minister Bheki Cele has asserted that the duty to safeguard Sizokuthola TV show’s host, Xolani Khumalo, from the menacing threats of drug dealers does not lie with the police force. Instead, he emphasized that the responsibility falls on the television channel that employs Khumalo called Moja Love.

This statement follows a public outcry urging police protection for Khumalo due to alleged threats on his life by drug dealers. The threats are believed to be in response to Khumalo’s series of exposés on the TV show, which have shed light on their illicit activities.

Minister Cele’s remarks indicate a division of responsibility between law enforcement and media organizations in ensuring the safety of individuals targeted by criminal elements. This incident raises questions about the role of both the police and media outlets in safeguarding journalists and public figures who risk their lives to expose criminal activities. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how the delicate balance between media freedom and personal security will be maintained in the face of such challenges.
