The highly anticipated Maseru Jazz Festival has announced that Afro-pop sensation Kelly Khumalo has been dropped from the lineup due to her dramatic evidence in the Senzo Meyiwa trial.

The festival’s management made the announcement on Thursday, saying that the move was made to protect the event’s integrity and give Kelly Khumalo more time to address the charges that have emerged from the legal procedures.

 

 

 

Lambertus Steyn, a cellphone analyst for the SA Police Service, mentioned Khumalo during his testimony last week in court.

A phone connected to the singer, according to Steyn, received calls from a number linked to suspected hitman Fisokuhle Ntuli several months before to the death of Meyiwa, the singer’s ex-lover.

The festival organizers decided to proceed cautiously even though there was no concrete evidence linking Kelly Khumalo to any criminal activity.
