The accused, who are charged with aiding and abetting Bester include four former G4S employees and one person who was a technician for the IT company that was responsible for installing CCTV cameras at the prison facility. They’re facing charges of arson, fraud, defeating the ends of justice and aiding and abetting an inmate.

They are accused of facilitating the Facebook rapist and murderer’s escape from the Mangaung Correctional Centre last year.

Closing arguments in the applications were heard last week.

 

Magistrate Khabisi went through the various charges the bail applicants are facing which include arson, violating a body, defeating ends of justice, fraud etc.

SABC journalist Chriselda Lewis broke the news, “Bail has been DENIED for FOUR of the applicants, Senohe Matsoara, Teboho Lipholo, Buti Masukela and Tieho Makhotsa. Only Nastassja Jansen has been granted bail. Matter postponed to June 20.”
