South African award-winning rapper, Cassper Nyovest has offered a prayer for AKA’s family after they came to pick his Award today. The award was presented by Metro FM to AKA posthumously for the best collaboration with Nasty C. Cassper Nyovest who said he is greatly pained that it is not AKA himself that is here to pick up the award wrote this prayer and tribute to his fallen colleague. He wrote, “It’s really sad seeing Kiernan’s family picking up the awards instead of him. May God give them strength and restore them”. The elevated Forbes family received the award, and it was particularly handed over to AKA’s only daughter, Kairo. Many people have hailed Cassper Nyovest for always remembering, AKA. A social media user wrote, “You have a good heart Man, that’s why I followed your music from my crèche graduations”.
However, mixed reactions have trailed the posthumous award to AKA, with some people claiming that the award was given out of mere sympathy. Some people disclosed that if AKA were to be alive, he wouldn’t have clinched the award. One person, Jabulani Macdonald, claimed that by giving this award to AKA, Metro FM has reduced AKA’s enduring legacy, insisting that the slain music artist, though a prolific musician and entertainer, he did not deserve to win in that category. Nevertheless, some people have expressed happiness over the award. Also, Makhadzi won the best female artist category as announced by the organizers of the award.
