Dr Nandipha Magudumana spent her early career working in obstetrics and gynaecology at an East Rand hospital before opening her own skincare business.

Optimum Medical Aesthetic Solutions, her clinic in Morningside, quickly became a hit with celebrity clients, including former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi and actor and presenter Moshe Ndiki.
Having made a name for herself as a doctor to the stars she gained a huge following on social media. She was spotted at high-profile events and women’s forums and enjoyed the finer things in life.
In videos posted to her Facebook page, she can be seen in 2020 buying a Range Rover with an estimated value of R4 million, just two months after acquiring a Porsche Cayenne.
By this time she’d reconnected with Bester, who’d begun his life sentence, and she started visiting him in prison. In 2021 she and Bester, who was going by the alias TK Nkwana, started a property renovation company, Arum Properties.
Nkosinathi believes his sister is suffering from a version of Stockholm syndrome, a psychological response where a captive begins to closely identify with their captor.
He’s also angry she exposed her two young daughters to Bester in their early dealings with each other.
Police are still trying to piece together exactly how Nandipha and Bester planned his escape, but it’s thought she used some of the money she made from her businesses to help Bester walk out of Mangaung Prison in Bloemfontein in May 2022.
