The Box” formerly known as Lesego Chauke 30, is unable to wrap his head around the fact that his best friend DJ Pencil has passed away. DJ Pencil, whose true name was Samuel Moripe and who was 40 years old and from Atteridgevillle in Tshwane, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, from cancer and was laid to rest on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

The Box reported that he is still in disbelief and that when he first learned about his passing, he assumed it was a joke until he got to his house.

 

He offered his impression of DJ Pencil as someone who was modest, loving, and joyful. The Box stated that they had been working together since 2013 when they formed the band known as Tshwane Rhythm alongside Dada guy and Bongs.

“I will always remember what my friend told me, that I need to believe in myself, and that whenever you see that someone is using you, you need to leave them and start your own things,” he said.

“I will always remember what he told me.” The Box mentioned that the last time he saw DJ Pencil was at the beginning of March in Atteridgeville. During that time, he and DJ Pencil discussed their plans to bring Tshwane Rhythm back to Bacardi, as well as the fact that they ought to release an EP for their respective audiences. According to him, their followers consistently asked for Bacardi tunes, but sadly, he is no longer with them.

The Box stated that DJ Pencil and Vusi Ma R5 were both his pals, and he is sad that both of them have passed away.

“I will continue doing good music, and I am going to release a memorial song for DJ Pencil very soon.” He mentioned that he is now working on a few projects that are scheduled for release this year.
