The funeral was held at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani, Soweto, on Sunday, March 19, however most attendees and members of the media were denied away.
According to information provided to the SunTeam, the family chose last-minute to invite just immediate family members and friends. Everyone not on the guest list was turned away by security officers who had a guest list.
According to family spokesman Abram Bosman, the expense of catering was too expensive.
“The caterers were the reason we decided to keep it private. They desired to profit. We had to come up with a strategy because the prices were too high. We didn’t want anyone to go hungry, especially the young ones.

“The aim was to bury her and people were charging unreasonable prices. So, we decided to hold funeral privately instead of spending a lot of money,” Abram said.
He said that the funeral went well. Gloria as buried in the Heroes’ Acre at Westpark Cemetery next to the grave of rapper AKA.
Abram, however, denied that anyone was turned away from the funeral location.
No one was refused entry to the gate. I was there to ensure that individuals could enter. There were individuals admitted who weren’t close pals, he said.
Following a brief illness, Gloria passed away on March 14th. Gloria’s cause of death has not yet been disclosed, and Abram told the Daily Sun that he was unable to divulge any further information.
