Her older sister Makaziwe died when she was young, so her mother gave her the name Pumla, which means “God has rested her soul.” Makaziwe is the youngest of Mandela’s four children from his first marriage. She is also the oldest of Mandela’s two living children; Zenani Mandela Dlamini is the other.
