Veteran radio and TV presenter Mark Pilgrim, 53, has died after battling stage four lung cancer.

Mark Pilgrim, 53, was battling stage four lung cancer.
In a statement on Sunday morning 102.7 FM confirmed the news of Pilgrim’s passing.
“It was with great sadness that I share this news. Our hero and brother and much loved radio personality Mark Pilgrim lost his battle with cancer this morning at 10:45.”
HOT 102.7 FM said the radio presenter passed peacefully with his fiancé Adrienne at home.
“They were together for his last breath.”

Mark, a former Valie who matriculated at HS Sasolburg in 1986, was diagnosed with Stage 3 testicular cancer in 1988. It was an aggressive cancer that also spread to his kidneys and lungs.

After nine months of chemotherapy, Mark was in remission for 33 years, until he was diagnosed with cancer again in February 2022.

Mark put up a strong battle with cancer for the second time in his life, after receiving a diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer last year in March 2022. He took the nation along with him on his journey, documenting his battle with cancer in a YouTube series and regularly updating his fans and followers along the way.

Mark fought bravely up until his very last breath. He will be sorely missed by his listeners and fans across the nation and beyond.

We send our condolences to Mark’s wife Adrienne and two daughters Tayla-Jean and Alyssa. Our thoughts are with Mark’s family, friends and coworkers at this difficult time.
